RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) volleyball team learned on Monday that freshman setter Luanna Emiliano is the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Volleyball TicketSmarter Freshman of the Week after leading UTRGV to a 3-0 victory over Lamar on Saturday.
This is Emiliano’s third WAC Volleyball TicketSmarter Freshman of the Week honor after previously earning the award on Sept. 30 and Sept. 13.
Emiliano posted her 19th double-double in 24 matches with a match-high 32 assists, a match-high tying 10 digs, a match-high three aces, one block and one kill.
For the season, Emiliano is averaging 9.85 assists per set, the sixth-highest single-season total in program history.
Emiliano ranks third in the WAC and second in the Southwest Division in assists per set, third in the WAC and first in the southwest in aces per set (0.37), and 16th in the WAC and ninth in the southwest in digs per set (3.20).
UTRGV is back in action on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Tarleton at the UTRGV Fieldhouse. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at UTRGVTickets.com. Those unable to attend the match in person can watch in the United States on ESPN+ or internationally on the WAC Digital Network.
