After 18 years and challenges posed by the pandemic the past two years, a seat at the Forum is still a hot commodity. Edwards Abstract and Title Co. is proud to announce that the State of Real Estate Forum is scheduled on Thursday, March 10 at the McAllen Convention Center.
As he has for almost two decades, Dr. Ted C. Jones, PhD will serve as the keynote speaker. Dr. Jones is the chief economist and senior vice president for Stewart Title based in Houston. He drives Stewart’s ongoing financial analysis and applied real estate research. His expertise is well established among stockholders, associates, and customers. An accomplished speaker, he typically gives hundreds of presentations on real estate and the economy annually.
During his career, Dr. Jones has completed numerous mass-appraisal assignments, including more than $3 billion of income-producing property owned by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, retails properties, hotels, motels, offices, commercial land, multi-family housing, residences, and special-use properties.
Edwards is also pleased to welcome Pedro R. Alvarez, P.E., and Pharr District Engineer with the Texas Department of Transportation, as guest speaker. He represents a vast area including several counties outside the Rio Grande Valley. Under Alvarez’s leadership, the Pharr District plans, designs, builds, operates, and maintains the state transportation system in the following counties: Brooks, Cameron, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Kenedy, Starr, Willacy, and Zapata.
The Texas Transportation Commission, the five-member governing board of the Texas Department of the Texas Transportation Commission, unanimously approved a statewide 10-year Unified Transportation Program (UTP). The Pharr TxDOT District was allocated $2.1 billion for transportation infrastructure that started in 2020. Alvarez will highlight the many, massive projects that are currently ongoing in several parts of the Rio Grande Valley.
