Edwards Abstract and Title Co. was represented by a large delegation of Edwards associates during the Texas Land Title Association South Texas Seminar held on Saturday, April 11. Over thirty licensed Edwards Abstract escrow officers, title plant, legal department and members of the management team were present at the McAllen Convention Center, seminar headquarters.
The seminar is coordinated by the Texas Land Title Association that allows title insurance industry professionals the opportunity to learn the latest industry trends and earn continuing education hours. Founded in 1908, TLTA is a statewide trade association representing the Texas title insurance industry and currently serving over 13,000 professionals involved in the safe and efficient transfer of real estate. In the course of their daily work, the TLTA membership serves over a million consumers each year. With active members in every Texas county, TLTA membership comprises over 90 percent of all title insurance agents and underwriters licensed to do business in Texas.
The South Texas Seminar is of special significance as TLTA provided TILA/RESPA Readiness Training regarding the changes to the new Closing Disclosures; Endorsement Overview and other topics of vital importance for the title insurance industry professionals in the area. Byron Jay Lewis, Chairman of the Board and C.E.O. has served on the TLTA Board of Directors, a state level position. “I appreciate the continuing education seminars that are hosted by TLTA in the South Texas region. The convenience allows for greater attendance and opportunity to earn continuing education hours necessary for license renewal by the Texas Department of Insurance,” said Byron Jay Lewis. “This is of great benefit of all local title insurance industry professionals,” he added.
