McALLEN, Texas – The McAllen Chamber of Commerce and the McAllen Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) announced the appointment of Edward Lopez, General Manager of DoubleTree Suites by Hilton McAllen, to serve on the Lower Rio Grande Valley Local Workforce Development Board.
Lopez has over two decades of leadership experience in the hospitality sector and currently oversees a workforce of more than 70 employees at one of the region’s premier hotel properties. His nomination reflects a shared commitment by McAllen’s business and civic leaders to ensure strong employer representation in shaping the region’s workforce strategy.

The board plays a critical role in aligning local talent development with employer needs, managing federal and state funding, and promoting economic mobility for job seekers.
“Lopez’s experience in customer service, operations, and talent development makes him a valuable asset to the board,” said Elizabeth Suarez, President and CEO of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce and McAllen EDC. “His insight into employer needs, especially in the tourism and service industries, will help align training opportunities with real-world demands.”
This appointment further strengthens McAllen’s regional workforce ecosystem by advancing MEDC’s and the Chamber’s shared goal of building an inclusive, responsive, and future-ready workforce.
