PHARR, Texas – Two Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD educators have been selected from a competitive pool of applicants to be part of the 2021-2022 EcoRise Teacher Ambassadors cohort.
As Ambassadors, PSJA North Early College High School Librarian Denisse Ochoa and PSJA Early College High School World Geography Teacher Victoria Galvan-Garcia will be joining a network of K-12 educators from across the US.
“This is my third year representing PSJA ISD as an EcoRise Ambassador,” said Ochoa. “My goal is to promote sustainability education within our district. My hope is to inspire our students to become future environmental leaders.”
According to the release, a total of 30 sustainability education trailblazers were selected from a competitive pool of applicants to represent, inspire change, and support other educators in their communities this school year.
“I intend to guide students so they may use a sustainable, holistic approach to problem solving while considering the needs of current and future stakeholders,” said PSJA ECHS Teacher Garcia-Galvan. “In this role, I look forward to supporting teachers who are interested in implementing sustainability lessons in their classes.”
Individuals selected come from 12 different regions across the United States including New York City, California, and the Rio Grande Valley.
