EDINBURG, Texas – The City of Edinburg’s Cultural Arts Department presents Nuestra Herencia dance concert Saturday, September 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Edinburg Municipal Auditorium at 200 N. 7th Ave in Edinburg. The dance concert features Edinburg’s Conceptos Dance Ensemble with special guest ensembles that include the ECISD Johnny G. Economedes High School Grupo Folklorico Jaguar under the direction of Rodrigo Leal and PSJA-ISD North Early College High School Grupo Folklorico Ichtequi under the direction of Jose Hinojosa.
This two-hour dance concert celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with vibrant music and costumes. It is a joyful experience perfect for the whole family. Tickets are $10 each, and children under 10 are admitted free. They are available online at edinburgarts.com/conceptos or at the door.
Edinburg Conceptos Dance Ensemble is under the artistic direction of Raúl Galván and supported by Cati Gómez. The ensemble is regularly seen at city festivals, events, and parades and annually hosts the RGV Dance Festival. Dancers range from high school age through adulthood.
“It’s been a couple of years since we have been able to have our Nuestra Herencia recital,” Magdiel Castle, Assistant Director for Cultural Arts, said. “We are delighted to bring this beautiful annual celebration to the stage and to be able to feature some of our fellow ensemble partners as well.”
The guest ensembles performing at this event have showcased their talents at the city’s RGV Dance Festival in the spring and at festivals and competitions across the Valley and the state.
“These ensembles rehearse even through the summer,” said Castle. “Bringing their new pieces to the stage is a vital part of their growth as performers, as they learn and perfect their craft. I know their families, friends, and the entire community will want to be here to celebrate with them.”
