Edinburg, Texas — A groundbreaking is planned for prototype dubbed Generation 4.0. Qube Hotel Group, LLC and Qube RGV Properties, LP have chosen Edinburg to build one of Marriott’s newest models.
Gen 4.0 is geared toward next- generation travelers featuring a more linear exterior look, a larger lobby, as well as newly designed bedrooms and kitchens. Qube Hotels will build a four-story 95-room all suites hotel with a full bar at the corner of Professional Drive and Trenton Road– one of the busiest corridors in the City with more than 99,000 vehicles per day.
Qube Hotels is investing $10 million to build the hotel guaranteeing to create a minimum of 20-30 permanent full-time jobs. This project is expected to have a significant economic impact on the City.
The Edinburg City Council agreed to waive associated permit fees with this project at the October 20, 2015 meeting as this development will also promote local economic development and stimulate business and commercial activity within the City.
Mayor Richard H. Garcia says it’s exciting to see a project of this size come to Edinburg. “It will add needed rooms to an area that is growing fast. The new Holiday Inn Express that was built late last year on Closner Boulevard was sold out before it even opened. I have no doubt they too will be very successful.”
Marriott TownePlace Suites will be near the bustling Shoppes at Rio Grande which will soon see the opening of an Ulta Store– the first in Edinburg for this Beauty Products Chain and near the Bert Ogden Arena currently under construction. HEB’ third Edinburg location will also be built at the intersection of Trenton and I69/Central. Just west of that site, the second phase of a luxury apartment complex is almost complete. The Residence at Edinburg invested $5 million to add 108 units to its complex. The first phase included 194 units with an investment of $9.1 million. Around the corner on Sugar Road, two 40-acre subdivisions are under construction. The subdivisions will feature single family high end homes priced at about 250-300 thousand dollars. The City of Edinburg has also issued permits for a Dunkin Donuts and two other restaurants along that corridor.
The groundbreaking planned for later this month is on track to make this location the very first of its kind in America.
