The UFO Conference continues at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance (118 Paseo Del Prado) on Saturday, August 15th from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The day will feature appearances by TV star Mark Goddard of the classic science-fiction series “Lost in Space” and radio personality George Noory, host of the late night talk show “Beyond Belief with George Noory.”

Goddard played Major Don West, the pilot of the Jupiter Two Spacecraft featured in the CBS TV series that aired from 1965 to 1968.  This year marks the shows 50th Anniversary.  Goddard will speak about his experiences on the show and his recent autobiography “To Space and Back.”

Noory, considered one of the world’s leading spokespersons for UFOs and other oddities, will moderate a UFO panel discussion and then hold an informal talk with the audience followed by a meet and greet.

Author Noe Torres will speak on the amazing history of America’s most top secret military base – Area 51 in Nevada.  Torres, an Edinburg native, has maintained a life-long interest in UFOs that was inspired, in part, by a strange encounter his mother had in the woods west of Edinburg in the 1940s.  He has written several books and appeared on the History Channel’s “UFO Hunters” TV series.

Uriarte, who has investigated UFOs and crop circles for more than 30 years, will discuss the mysterious case known as “Mexico’s Roswell.” The event involves a reported mid-air collision between a UFO and a small plane along the Texas-Mexico Border that occurred on August 25, 1974.

Award-winning Rio Grande Valley author Dr. David Bowles will present his lecture called “The Border X-Files,” which explores local tales of the weird and unexplained.  Bowles has also appeared on the cable TV series “Monsters & Mysteries in America.”

David Carren, a University of Texas Rio Grande Valley film professor, will present an overview of the “Star Wars” film series, including a preview of the new film “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which premieres in December.

Tickets for the Saturday conference are $30 and available at TopBoxTickets.com, Ticket Zone, Hermes Music, the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce or by calling 1-800-514-3849.
