Edinburg to Open Warming Center Amidst Incoming Cold Spell

EDINBURG, Texas – As a proactive measure to support the community during the impending cold blast, the City of Edinburg will be opening a Warming Center at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library, located at 1906 S. Closner Blvd.

The Warming Center will open on Monday at 6 p.m., close on Tuesday at 8 a.m., re-open on Tuesday at 6 p.m., and finally, close down on Wednesday at 8 a.m., operating from January 20 to January 22. This facility aims to provide respite and shelter for residents who may be vulnerable to the harsh weather conditions. The Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library will remain open during regular business hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

In preparation for their stay, patrons are encouraged to bring essential items, including a pillow and blanket, non-perishable food and snacks, and any necessary overnight medication. For the safety and comfort of all, no pets will be allowed inside the Warming Center.
