Edinburg, TX Edinburg composer Ashton Gonzalez will present his latest compositions at a FREE chamber music concert on Friday, August 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Edinburg Municipal Auditorium. The concert will feature performances by Symphonia Hyacinth, a group of local musicians, with both solo and small ensemble pieces, including several of Gonzalez’s original works.

“As a Music Friendly City, we’re thrilled to celebrate a wide variety of music genres,” said Magdiel Castle, Assistant Director of Cultural Arts. “This concert is another highlight in a spring and summer filled with music. This year’s series has spanned Tejano, 80s, Punk, Country, and now Classical and chamber music, making it an exciting time for music in Edinburg.”

Promoting local talent is a key aspect of being a Music Friendly City, and this chamber music concert will feature musicians from across the Valley. Gonzalez, an Edinburg native currently studying at the University of North Texas, will showcase compositions, including the Limerence String Quartet, Wars of My Mind, and Symphonic Suite No. 1 in D Major.

The concert will be held at the Edinburg Municipal Auditorium, an architectural gem nearing its centennial in 2026. Known for its exceptional acoustics, the venue was originally designed for live music and continues to offer a superb auditory experience nearly 100 years later. “The acoustics are quite good,” Castle noted. “The space was purpose-built for live performances, and its sound quality has endured beautifully over the decades.” The auditorium is located at 200 N 7th Ave, just behind City Hall, with ample parking available at Edinburg City Hall.

This event is brought to you by the City of Edinburg Cultural Arts Division. For more information, please contact Edinburg Cultural Arts at 956-383-6246 or arts@cityofedinburg.com.
