EDINBURG, Texas – The City of Edinburg will host a Bienvenida and Proclamation Ceremony in honor of the United States Navy’s visit to South Texas as part of the RGV Navy Week. The ceremonial program will formally welcome visiting sailors to the community and recognize their service through a special proclamation issued by the City of Edinburg. The ceremony will take place on Monday, January 26, at 6 p.m. at the ACE Center, located at 315 W. McIntyre St.
City officials will offer welcome remarks and present a proclamation acknowledging the significance of RGV Navy Week and the Navy’s long standing dedication to service, patriotism, and community engagement. Navy representatives will share remarks highlighting the mission and purpose of Navy Week, followed by a message from the USS Gonzalez’s commanding officer.
The Bienvenida Ceremony will also feature cultural and musical performances celebrating the community’s hospitality, including a welcome presentation by Mariachi Juvenil Aztlan and the City of Edinburg’s Conceptos Dance Ensemble. The program will conclude with a special performance by the Navy’s Deck Plate Brass Band and the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard.
The RGV Navy Week will bring more than 70 U.S. Navy sailors to the region for a week of public performances, educational outreach, and community service activities, with several scheduled engagements taking place in the City of Edinburg.
