EDINBURG, TEXAS – The National Civic League and the City of Edinburg is proud to announce that Edinburg has been selected as a finalist for the 2019 All-America City Award (AAC).
“Being named a finalist is an honor. This speaks volumes about the spirit of our community. We’re active. We’re inclusive. We engage our residents.” Said Edinburg Mayor Richard Molina. “We’ve won the title of All-America City designation three times before; in 1968, 1995 and 2000. After 19 years, it’s time we win it again. We know how great Edinburg is and now the nation will know it, too.”
Edinburg will compete against 19 other finalists from around the country.
The National Civic League made the announcement Wednesday morning, saying “these finalists represent the diversity of American communities of the largest cities to the smallest towns, from east to west and north to south.”
The National Civic League’s President, Doug Linkhart explains the importance of using inclusive civic engagement: “These finalist communities are building healthy communities through collaboration with residents, businesses and other stakeholders. While many people are concerned about the ability of our nation to improve lives, these communities are showing that great things can happen at the local level.”
