This remarkable figure encompasses both residential and commercial projects, with $18 million dedicated to residential developments and an astonishing $39 million invested in commercial ventures.
Edinburg has been witnessing a remarkable surge in construction activity, demonstrating the robust growth and economic vitality of the region. The latest construction report indicates a substantial increase in new projects and investments, further solidifying Edinburg’s position as a prime destination for development and expansion.

Comparing year-to-date figures, the City has witnessed an extraordinary upswing in new construction activity. As of April 30, 2023, the cumulative value of new construction projects has reached an impressive $164.5 million, significantly surpassing the $56 million recorded during the same period in 2022.
“This unprecedented growth showcases the city’s strong momentum and the confidence investors and developers have in Edinburg’s future,” Mayor Garza said. “These ventures will not only provide employment opportunities but also contribute to the city’s tax base, infrastructure development, and overall economic vitality.”

Building permits pulled by UTRGV and ECISD for the Collegiate High School and improvements at the South Texas International Airport in Edinburg contributed to the commercial increase.
