Edinburg Police Investigate Auto-Pedestrian Crash Involving Student

EDINBURG, Texas – At approximately 10:01 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, the Edinburg Police Department responded to an auto-pedestrian accident at the intersection of North McColl Road and West Schunior Road.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 13-year-old female student was struck by a gray SUV traveling southbound as she attempted to cross the street on her way to B.L. Garza Middle School. A witness at the scene rendered immediate aid and transported the student to the school, where staff promptly contacted emergency services. The student was then taken to a local hospital and is currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Thanks to a second witness who provided the vehicle’s license plate number, officers were able to swiftly locate and identify the suspect. The driver, 69-year-old Dennis Bullard of Edinburg, has been taken into custody and will be charged with collision involving serious bodily injury and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
