Edinburg, TX – The Edinburg Police Department will host a promotional and recognition ceremony on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at the Edinburg Municipal Auditorium at 200 N. 7th Ave. During the ceremony, an officer will be promoted to sergeant, and several officers will be honored with lifesaving awards for their heroic actions. These actions include racing into a burning home to save a child and applying a tourniquet to a shooting victim, ultimately saving her life. In a poignant moment, the officers will be reunited with the individuals whose lives they helped save. The media and community are invited to celebrate these extraordinary acts of bravery.
