EDINBURG, Texas – On Saturday, December 6, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Edinburg Police units responded to the Drama Llama Drive-Thru, located at 5203 S. Veterans Blvd., regarding an aggravated robbery. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a female store clerk who reported that she had been robbed at knifepoint by a female suspect. The clerk stated that the suspect displayed a knife in close proximity to her and demanded cash, taking between $500 and $900.

According to the clerk, the suspect claimed she was committing the robbery because she needed money for a child with cancer. The clerk also reported that at one point, the suspect set the knife down, allowing the clerk to pick it up and order the suspect to stay. The suspect then fled the store on foot, and the clerk briefly pursued her before returning to the store.

Criminal Investigations Division detectives responded and took over the investigation. Their efforts led to the identification of the suspect as 37-year-old Annjanette Garza of Edinburg. An arrest warrant was secured, and Garza was taken into custody without incident on December 9, 2025, at her residence. Investigators later determined that the suspect did not, in fact, have a child with cancer.
