EDINBURG, Texas – As a proactive measure to support the community during the impending cold blast, the City of Edinburg will be opening a Warming Center at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library, located at 1906 S. Closner Blvd.
The Warming Center will open on Sunday at 5 p.m., close on Monday at 9 a.m., reopen on Monday at 5 p.m., and finally, close down on Tuesday at 9 a.m., operating from January 25 to January 27.
This facility aims to provide respite for residents who may be vulnerable to the harsh weather conditions. Sekula Memorial Library will also remain open during regular business hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
In preparation for their stay, patrons are encouraged to bring essential items, including a pillow and blanket, non-perishable food and snacks, and any necessary overnight medication. For the safety and comfort of all, no pets will be allowed inside the Warming Center.
If residents have any inquiries or concerns, the City of Edinburg urges them to call 311, where dedicated staff will be available to answer questions and provide assistance.
