Edinburg Texas: Edinburg City Manager Ramiro Garza Jr. has named Efren Fernandez as the new Human Resources Director. Fernandez has more than 16 years of related experience and most recently served as the Human Resources Director for the City of Harlingen. He also served as HR Director for the cities of Brownsville and Weslaco.
In addition, Mr. Fernandez was employed with the Department of Homeland Security as an Administrative Officer and The Texas Employment Commission, today known as Texas Workforce Commission.
Fernandez is a graduate of Pan American University with a degree in Government. He is certified in human resources as a Senior Professional in Human Resources by the Society of Human Resources Management and as Certified Professional by the International Professional Management Association for Human Resources.
Mr. Fernandez replaces Sonia Marroquin who was promoted to Assistant City Manager in October of 2013. The City of Edinburg welcomes Efrain Fernandez.
