EDINBURG, Texas – Mayor Omar Ochoa announced being selected as one of 34 newly-elected U.S. mayors for the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University’s Program for New Mayors: First 100 Days, delivered in collaboration with Bloomberg Philanthropies, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School. Collectively representing 6.7 million U.S. residents in 23 states, the selected mayors are convening at Harvard University for an immersive two-day learning experience. Structured to support them through their transition and first 100 days in office, the Program for New Mayors combines in-person sessions with continued engagement beyond the classroom.

The program is designed as a forum for exchanging innovative ideas and approaches to community leadership. Aided by the Bloomberg Center for Cities’ global network of mayors, the program shares expert voices, promotes collaboration, and equips participants with practical tools to advance their most important priorities as they begin their terms.

“I am delighted to be selected to join the well-regarded Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard Program for New Mayors: First 100 Days,” said Mayor Ochoa. “By learning alongside and building connections to other U.S. mayors at Harvard, I look forward to strengthening the capabilities my city hall will put to use in addressing pressing challenges, pursuing key opportunities, and serving our community.”

The Program for New Mayors is housed at the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University, which serves a global community committed to improving public management, leadership, and governance.
