H-E-B Park ā A benchmark facility
It was a busy and supremely successful first year for H-E-B Park in Edinburg.
Since opening in the Spring, H-E-B Park has hosted over 100,000 attendees already and is on track to surpass those numbers for 2018. H-E-B Park is the official home of the United Soccer League RGVFC Toros, the hybrid affiliate of the acclaimed Houston Dynamo.
High-profile professional soccer match upās attracted thousands of excited fans who were able to become part of a developing fandom in a state-of-the-art facility.
H-E-B Park is multifaceted and its practicality of over-lapping sports seasons and ability to transition from a sporting event to setting the stage for live music enhances its value as a signature destination to its host city.
H-E-B Park has brought more than 200 hundred new employment opportunities to the area, generating an estimated $3.6 million economic output in local and state taxes. The 9,700 seat stadium also generated $22.6 million in labor income or money earned within the region from production and sales. Overall, an estimated $86 million is forecasted for total economic impact.
Developers remain focused on trying to build more workplace opportunities and continue to upgrade the complex to keep up with the current market. This includes aggressively attracting new businesses that will bring even more jobs and tax contributions to the county.
Bert Ogden Arena ā A business model for prosperity
H-E-B Park is an important factor directly correlated with the increased number of visitors to the area, but so is the highly anticipated Bert Ogden Arena, which is also expected to draw thousands more guests and provide an economic stimulus as well.
Bert Ogden Arena will serve as home to the NBA G League Rio Grande Valley Vipers but will host a variety of sporting events and concerts but also add to the quality of life for residents.
The vision behind creating the largest indoor arena in the RGV was not only an investment to the region but considered an investment in human infrastructure. Through this lens, developers want to offer a unique attendee experience with every element of the design process.
A venue like this is the catalyst that will elevate the community to the next level.
Construction of multipurpose sports and entertainment complex was made possible in part by a public/private partnership between the visionaries at Cantu Construction and the unwavering support from the City of Edinburg and Edinburg Economic Development Corporation.
Upon breaking ground, the 9,000-seat venue created hundreds of jobs to local service providers working tirelessly to move the project forward.
Such a massive undertaking takes time and careful planning to ensure this $88 million facility is a force to be reckoned with. Over 1,000 jobs have been created throughout the process of construction and it was estimated ā after construction is completed and the arena is up and fully operational ā the development would support nearly 500 full- and part-time jobs, putting nearly $45 million into workersā pockets annually.
All at no cost to tax payers.
A previous study conducted by the University Of Texas Rio Grande Valley projected a $90 million immediate economic impact with the new facility and $45 million impact each year after.
Overall, in its first year alone, the arena is expected to provide substantial return on investment to the City of Edinburg.
The arena will not only be a destination for sporting events, but also host national and international musical acts, graduations, civic functions which will stimulate the local economy and strengthen community partnership.
Through the development process, it has been essential the partnership with the City of Edinburg and Edinburg EDC will work to meet the goals of the arena project and of the city.
There is already an excitement surrounding the future of Bert Ogden Arena and the opportunity to continue its collaboration with the City of Edinburg and community.
Arena officials remain optimistic that this facility will help spur commercial development ā especially hotels and eateries ā in the developing area along Interstate 69, where the arena sits.
The amount of economic impact this project will have on the community is phenomenal and will rely on vision and partnership.
This sports and entertainment destination has already transformed the community and
will be amenities that will greatly enhance its status as a regional attraction not just for young athletes, but their families as well.
