EDINBURG, Texas  The City of Edinburg hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the Doolittle Detention Pond Earlier today Thursday, February 8th. This initiative, aligned with the 2018 Bond Election, aims at enhancing the drainage system across various sectors in Edinburg. The allocated budget for this improvement is estimated to be $7.3 million.

The project involves enhancing drainage across 76 acres in Edinburg, specifically benefiting areas like South Park and the region bordered by S. Veterans Blvd. to the east, E. Park Dr. to the north, South Closner Blvd. to the west, and East Freddy Gonzalez Dr. to the south. This initiative aims to augment detention volume and enhance drainage capacity within the storm sewer system.

Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-February, leading to designated construction zones on E. Ebony Ln., E. Baker Dr., E. Freddy Gonzalez Dr., S. 13th Ave., S. 16th Ave., and S. 17th Ave.
