Edinburg, Texas – As state legislators prepare for the upcoming 86th Legislative Session, which commences this month, government entities across Texas are working to align their legislative priorities to ensure that their respective goals and projects are front and center among state decision makers. The Edinburg Economic Development Corporation (EEDC) is coordinating efforts to work with a professional governmental liaison firm that will effectively represent the EEDC’s interests in Austin.

As such, the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation has entered into an agreement with Caballero Governmental Affairs, a well-known and respected firm with the relevant knowledge and background necessary to work on the EEDC’s behalf and promote its projects and priorities related to issues such as business and economic development, workforce development, and commerce and trade.

Caballero Governmental Affairs is headed by principal Elvia Caballero Lopez, an established, reliable, and ethical consultant at the Texas State Capitol with 27 years’ experience in the legislative arena. With 14 years of experience working for a variety of legislators, and an almost equal amount of time advocating for clients, Lopez has an extensive background in the legislative process, public, and government relations, and has an efficient and effective track record implementing legislative agendas. Having previously represented Edinburg in the past, Ms. Lopez is familiar with city issues and brings a depth of historical knowledge to the EEDC.
