Edinburg, Texas – The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District recently announced that it is one of seven school districts in Texas to be recognized as an Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll District for its high achievement and student success. Additionally, 16 Edinburg CISD campuses earned Honor Roll School distinctions, which are the most schools selected by any district or charter school in the region.
“We are honored that Edinburg CISD has been selected as an Honor Roll District. We are equally excited that 16 of our campuses were named Honor Roll Schools,” ECISD Superintendent Dr. René Gutiérrez said. “We want to thank all of our students, parents, teachers, and staff for their hard work and dedication for reaching these academic achievements.”
The 16 campuses, which are among 729 public schools in Texas recognized as an Honor Roll School, include Austin, Betts, Canterbury, Cavazos, De La Vina, Escandon, Esparza, Flores-Zapata, Gorena, Guerra, Jefferson, Magee, Monte Cristo, Ramirez, Trevino, and Truman elementary schools.
Five of the elementary schools with higher performance in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) were also recognized with a special STEM designation. They are Austin, Canterbury, Escandon, Flores-Zapata and Jefferson elementary schools.
According to the Educational Results Partnership (ERP), the Institute for Productivity in Education (IPE) sponsored the program, which is part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and districts that are improving student outcomes.
ERP maintains the nation’s largest database on student achievement and utilizes this data to identify higher-performing schools and districts. School districts that receive the ERP Honor Roll distinction have demonstrated consistent high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time, and a reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.
“Educational success must be data-informed,” ERP Board Chairman Greg Jones said. “These Honor Roll schools and districts are improving student achievement and we have the data to prove it. It’s critical that the business community support and promote educational success as today’s students are tomorrow’s workforce.”
