Edinburg – The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce held their 86th annual awards banquet on Friday, November 9th at The Social Club in Edinburg. The event was attended by 150 local business, community leaders and featured a social hour with music and a fine dinner. The banquet was emceed by Stephan Wingert (V.P. Publisher – The Monitor). The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce recognized many local well-deserved leaders including the 2018 Man and Woman of the Year Robert and Janet Vackar of Bert Ogden Auto Group. “We want to thank the Vackars for their endless efforts not only to the Edinburg community but to the entire Rio Grande Valley. We are proud to call you one of our very own”, said Interim Executive Director Ronnie Larralde.
Also honored that evening was incoming President of the Board Jennifer Garza. Jennifer Garza started a new role this past July and is the Vice President of Operations for Superior Health Plan. Prior to her new role, she held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Edinburg Regional Medical Center and Edinburg Children’s Hospital. Jennifer has been part of the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce as a member, volunteer and board member since 2012. Throughout the years, Jennifer has served in different committees and Chair-Elect with the Chamber. Jennifer was also recently recognized as a Woman of Distinction by the RGV Hispanic Chamber in 2018.
The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce would also like to recognize the 2018 Ambassador of the Year Agustin Lozano Jr. (Bert Ogden Auto Group); 2018 Leadership Award Recipient Bay and Thelma Rex (St. Vincent De Paul) and the 2018 Edinburg Fireman of the Year Michael Luna.
