EDINBURG, Texas – The City of Edinburg hosted a special celebration to honor all residents and city employees for their contributions to securing a historic fourth All-America City title. The event was held in the City Hall Council Chambers on Thursday, June 27, at 6 p.m.
During the celebration, National Civic League President Doug Linkhart presented a plaque to the Edinburg City Council, formally designating Edinburg as an All-America City. There were also special proclamations from national and state lawmakers, including Congressman Vicente Gonzalez, Congresswoman Monica de la Cruz, State Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, and state representatives Terry Canales and Bobby Guerra.
The All-America City Award, recognized as the nation’s most prestigious civic honor, acknowledges communities that engage residents in innovative, inclusive, and effective efforts to tackle critical challenges and improve the quality of life for all. Edinburg was one of only ten communities nationwide that earned this title in 2024.
“Securing our fourth All-America City Award is a remarkable testament to the spirit and dedication of our community,” said Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr. “This honor reflects the collective effort and hard work of our residents who unite to make Edinburg a beacon of innovation, inclusivity, and resilience. Every resident of Edinburg deserves congratulations because this victory is a true team effort. I am incredibly proud of our delegation for their unwavering commitment and determination in bringing this prestigious award home to Edinburg.”
