Hidalgo County Republican Party names candidate for Sheriff
Texas Border Business
The Hidalgo County GOP proudly announces that it has selected a candidate to
be placed on the ballot in the special election in November.
Mr. Albert (Al) Perez has 32 years of experience as a law enforcement
officer, 14 of those years being at the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department.
The task that brought him the most satisfaction was training police officers
from the ground up. Today he sees many of those former young cadets in
positions of leadership in various law enforcement agencies.
As sheriff, Mr. Perez pledges to restore confidence in the department partly
by implementing a new administration and by revamping the Internal Affairs
Division. He will reassess the department and redirect resources where they
are most needed.
Mr. Perez and his wife, Diorica, have been married 20 years and have seven
children. They are members of Church of Christ in Mission. Mr. Perez
enjoys hunting and fishing and has done volunteer work with Mujeres Unides.
