EL PASO, TX – The Downtown Management District (DMD) and local businesses have pooled efforts to ensure Downtown El Paso is decorated for the holidays despite the challenges brought on by COVID-19.

The DMD was notified earlier this summer by the City of El Paso (COEP) of budget cuts that would result in the reduction of Holiday decorations this year beyond San Jacinto Plaza. Utilizing its own funding to match contributions from businesses and property owners, the DMD was able to make sure Holiday decorations were installed along El Paso Street and Mills Avenue this season.

“Celebrating the holidays Downtown is tradition for countless El Paso families, and a welcome boost for our local businesses,” said Joe Gudenrath, DMD Executive Director. “Our business community and employees have lost so much to the pandemic, we weren’t going to let it take everything from us, as it is more important now than ever to support them. We hope the community is able to enjoy the decorations, support our local businesses and celebrate the holidays in a safe and responsible manner.”
