DHR Health and Hope Family Health Center announce August 22nd “Fishing for Hope” Tournament

Edinburg, TX — DHR Health (DHR) is pleased to announce its 15th Annual “Fishing for Hope” Tournament, which will be held Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Louie’s Backyard on South Padre Island, Texas. Now one of the largest non-profit fishing tournaments on the Texas coast, “Fishing for Hope” is a family-friendly and fun event for people of all ages. This year’s tournament will feature great prizes, dinner, the legendary stars auction, and much more! All proceeds from “Fishing for Hope” will once again benefit the Hope Family Health Center.
Hope Family Health Center (HOPE) is located in McAllen, Texas, and provides free medical and counseling care to the uninsured in the Rio Grande Valley. Local volunteer physicians and medical staff donate their time and services to ensure Rio Grande Valley residents receive free, quality health care in an open and accepting atmosphere. All patients seen are those who are without access to health care or medical insurance. In 2019, the Hope Family Health Center conducted over 10,000 appointments addressing medical, psychotherapeutic, wellness, and case management concerns.
Rebecca Ramirez, Executive Director of the Hope Family Health Center, states, “DHR Health has been an instrumental part of serving the uninsured in the Rio Grande Valley. Through the partnership Hope Family Health Center has with DHR Health, we have been able to serve those families in need with comprehensive services for the mind, body, and spirit.
Ramirez continues, “DHR Health supports the community directly with patient care but also supports the clinic with the “Fishing for Hope Tournament”, which raises funds to support the clinic’s operations, allows for patient surgeries, diagnostic and lab work, and helps build a culture of health and wellness to the uninsured. The commitment that DHR Health has towards healing those in need is truly humbling and I am eternally grateful for their trust in our clinic to provide care.”
In addition to funds raised through sponsors and teams, DHR Health employees dedicate themselves to establishing various fundraisers for “Fishing for Hope.” Through events such as Bingo night, numerous raffles, t-shirt sales, bake sales and jewelry fundraisers, DHR Health employees have raised thousands to help the Hope Family Health Center. “I am humbled by and so proud of the amount of enthusiasm and support shown by our team members at DHR,” states Marissa Castañeda, DHR Health Senior Executive Vice President. “Our employees take it upon themselves to raise funds for ‘Fishing for Hope’ and the past outcomes have been tremendous. Our employees truly are an asset to DHR and the community at large.”
