Born from Sully Villareal’s dream to share real Mexican food with the world (no shortcuts) Deli Spices’ Birria Spice Mix is made withreal dried chiles and toasted spices. It’s a 3-step recipe: just add meat, water, and the mix — no cooking skills required. Everyblend is tested by families and perfected by a Mexican mom in Texas to help people cook authentic birria in under 30 minutes withrestaurant-level flavor and reviving the Villareal family’s memories with every bite. Finalists to compete for $100,000 in combined prizes and placement on H-E-B shelves

From hundreds of entries to the top 10, H-E-B has named the finalists in its 12th annual Quest for Texas Best competition, a search for the best Texas-made products. These standout small businesses will go head-to-head with other Texas-based entrepreneurs for a share of $100,000 in cash prizes and the chance to have their products featured on H-E-B shelves across the state.

Over the past few months, H-E-B’s Sourcing Managers have reviewed submissions from more than 370 creative entrepreneurs from nearly 150 cities across the Lone Star State. The following producers will compete for the “Texas Best” title next month:

On September 25, the finalists will present their products and share their stories in front of a panel of judges selected by H-E-B in San Antonio, where the company is headquartered. The panel of judges will determine the top four winning products and award $50,000 to the Grand Prize winner, the title of “Texas Best”, and placement on store shelves; $25,000 to the first-place winner; $15,000 to the second-place winner; and $10,000 to the third-place winner.

“Quest for Texas Best is not only designed to find the best Texas-made products, but also to empower local entrepreneurs with the resources, exposure, and mentorship they need to grow,”said James Harris, H-E-B Sr. Director of Diversity & Inclusion and Supplier Diversity. “H-E-B was once a small business, so we understand the power and potential they can have, and we cannot wait to share the winning selections with our customers.”

H-E-B has discovered more than 1,000 unique products throughout the Lone Star State over the last decade – from cookies, coffees to empanadas, pickles, and pho, to salsas, spices, and everything in between. Non-food submissions have included everything from beauty items, toys, home goods, and household necessities, to gardening supplies, coolers, and more. Over the years, H-E-B has awarded nearly $2.75 million in prize money complemented by marketing, mentoring, and supplemental support. Additionally, H-E-B has awarded 55 Quest for Texas Best suppliers to date with a commemorative H-E-B Million Dollar Club belt buckle for achieving $1 million in sales.
