El Paso, Texas—The City of El Paso is proud to announce Hiller Measurements, a U.S. national leader in the development, manufacturing, and support of mission-critical test equipment for national organizations, is expanding to the El Paso International Airport.
The City Council approved a lease agreement with the defense contractor to support the creation of $4.6 million in new engineering jobs with a minimum public investment not to exceed $1.2 million over five years. El Paso should see a substantial rate of return on its agreement. Initial projections estimate the public investment will translate into $22 million in local economic growth over the life of the agreement with the Austin-based company.
“I am happy that Hiller Measurements has chosen to invest in our wonderful community,” said Mayor Oscar Leeser. “This lease agreement will continue to further our economic development strategy to grow existing and attract new target industries, including advanced manufacturing and international development to create an innovation-driven culture of technology that promotes economic growth.”
“This expansion of a major defense contractor to the El Paso International Airport underscores the benefit of the City Council’s strategy to make our community a center for aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing,” said Interim City Manager Cary Westin. “What is great about these investments is they produce direct and secondary benefits, such as a bright economic outlook and the addition of high-skilled jobs in a critical industry for our community.”
Hiller Measurements will occupy space in the existing ELP Innovation Factory, at 501 George Perry, east of the airport terminal. Operations will begin in early 2024.
The company’s local facility will feature cable and harness manufacturing, additive manufacturing augmented with artificial intelligence, and workforce development for more than 16 new high-skilled engineering jobs and internship opportunities.
