McAllen ISD Trustee Debbie Crane Aliseda filed for re-election to serve Trustee Place 3 for the McAllen ISD School Board.  This citywide race for the seven-member board will take place in the May 2021 election, hosted by the Hidalgo County Elections Office.

Crane Aliseda was first elected to the MISD School Board in 2011 and again in 2017.  She served as President of the Board, elected by her peers.  In 2013, she has the distinction of serving on the Board as it was awarded the “Texas School Board of the Year”.  In 2020 again, winning the “Region One School Board of the Year”.

MISD Trustee Danny Vela said, “Trustee Aliseda is not afraid to be the dissenting vote.  She is the only female on the Board, and since 2011, I have watched her grow into a master trustee.  I am looking forward to working with her another four years.”

Former MISD Trustee Hilda De Shazo who served with Crane Aliseda said, “Trustee Aliseda’s preparedness was evident.  Before voting on any issue, she had in-depth questions.  That, and the fact that the basis of all her decisions were based on what was in the best interest of our MISD students, always impressed me.”

When asked why she is seeking re-election, Crane Aliseda said, “Public school districts are the backbone of a community.  An education changes the trajectory of a family, of a community.   To achieve that quality education, that skilled workforce, you need a successful school district.  This is done by electing board members who are competent, have the time, preparedness and integrity to be trusted with your money and your children.  I have a proven record of precisely these qualities and ask you to continue trusting me to make sound decisions for our school district.”

Aliseda has consistently supported teachers as well as the expansion of academic programs in fine arts, dual language immersion, science, and technology. She is an advocate for all children in our community regardless of zip code.

Besides MISD, Crane Aliseda sits on the Boards of: IMAS, Boys & Girls Club of McAllen, McAllen Education Foundation, McAllen Parks & Recs, Mayor’s Health Wellness Council, McAllen Marathon Scott Crane Memorial Run, McAllen Kids Marathon, and UTRGV School of Education Strategic Planning.  She also serves as a member of Junior League of McAllen, McAllen Citizen’s League, Futuro McAllen and PTOs.
