WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (R-TX-15), Vice Chair of Communications for the Congressional Hispanic Conference released the following statement to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th and the achievements of women across the world.

“On International Women’s Day, we reflect on the incredible contributions of women throughout history. It is an honor to follow in the footsteps of female leaders and serve as the first Hispanic Republican woman to represent Texas for a full term. I am committed to supporting policies that empower women in my community and across the nation to dream big and achieve their American dream.” – Congresswoman De La Cruz

“On International Women’s Day, we reflect on the incredible strides women have made in the fight for equality. Fifty years ago, women were still fighting for basic rights— equal pay, the ability to obtain a credit card without a male co-signer, protections against pregnancy discrimination and sexual harassment, the right to serve on juries, and access to military academies. While great progress has been made, it is important we continue on our advocacy and efforts.” – Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis

“One of the most inspiring things about the United States of America is how women have the foundation to live their American Dream. As a journalist where I have covered some of the most brutal, repressive regimes in the world, and now as a Member of Congress where I have fought for expanding freedom and economic opportunity through my work on the Foreign Affairs Committee, I have seen the struggle and plight of women around the around for their basic rights. America is truly an exceptional place. To all the little girls with a dream and a will – keep going, keep learning, keep growing, keep fighting. I believe in you. Your country believes in you.” – Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar

“On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women around the world and throughout history. Their leadership, innovation, and determination have shaped businesses, communities, and even nations. I’m proud to honor their contributions and hope to inspire the next generation of women in leadership.” – Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna
