Mission, Texas – The Office of Governor Abbott has awarded the Mission Economic Development Corporation (Mission EDC) a Wagner-Peyser grant in the amount of $490, 268 to continue their series of CompTIA cybersecurity boot camps at its CEED building in Mission. The program is set to begin in September 2019 and will train 130 students through 11-week courses offered throughout the year. Upon completion of the CyberMission program, participants will have earned up to four industry-recognized certifications (CompTIA ITF+, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+) giving them the needed credentials for more than 32 job roles in the information technology field.

This marks the second year that the Mission EDC has received the Wagner-Peyser grant to fund these trainings. “This new round of funding for CyberMission will allow us to implement changes to last year’s program that will increase the program’s level of inclusivity. The most important change pertains to shifting from a full-time to a part-time model, allowing a participant to continue their current employment while studying on the side to become a cybersecurity analyst,” said Daniel Silva, CEO, Mission EDC. “We will also add trainings on weekends, evenings, and summers to accommodate participants with constrained schedules. It doesn’t matter if you are a recent graduate, a stay-at-home mom, or have a full-time job. If you have the desire and grit to make a career shift into the cybersecurity sector, we’ll make sure to have a program that can support those dreams,” he added.

The deadline to join the fall 2019 cohort is August 29th, 2019
