Congressman Henry Cuellar said that Congress began the August recess this week. He is now back in Laredo focused on the growing situation at the border. He said that last week he partnered with Senator Lindsey Graham, calling on the Biden Administration to appoint a border czar. “Senator Graham and I agreed that former Homeland Secretary Jeh Johnson–or someone with similar credentials–is critical to resolving the growing humanitarian crisis at our southern border,” he said.
He assured his district that he is in daily communication with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Border Patrol (CBP) officers on the ground. “I urge the Biden administration to take action. Federal border agents, and our border communities, are in dire need of help. An experienced border official should be appointed as soon as possible.”
