WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) issued the following statement after President Biden signed three of his bills memorializing a United States Post Office in Corpus Christi, Bastrop, and Brownsville, Texas into law.

Sen. Cruz said, “I am deeply honored to contribute to preserving the legacy of three extraordinary Texans – Capt. Bob Batterson, Sergeant Major Billy Waugh, and First Lieutenant Andres Zermeño – who defended our nation with unparalleled courage and devotion. They embodied the highest ideals of American patriotism and their sacrifices will now stand as a timeless testament to their heroism in the communities they called home for generations of Texans to come.”

BACKGROUND
Sen. Cruz’s legislative efforts that have been signed into law include:
Designating the United States Post Office located on North Tancahua Street in Corpus Christi, Texas, as the “Captain Robert E. ‘Bob’ Batterson Post Office” memorializing the service of Capt. Batterson, a United States Navy veteran and former Naval Aviator.
Designating the United States Post Office located on Main Street in Bastrop, Texas, as the “Sergeant Major Billy D. Waugh Post Office” memorializing the service of Sergeant Major Waugh, a Silver Star, and eight-time Purple Heart recipient.
Designating the United States Post Office located on East Los Ebanos Boulevard in Brownsville, Texas, as the “First Lieutenant Andres Zermeño Post Office” memorializing the service of Lieutenant Zermeño, a United States Army veteran who gave his life in the line of duty supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
