EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley arrested three gang members and two sex offenders in four days.

On Friday, Falfurrias agents working near Encino, Texas, arrested a Honduran national attempting to circumvent the checkpoint. Record checks revealed a previous arrest by the Kent County Sheriff’s Office in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for criminal sexual conduct 2nd degree causing personal injury. The presiding judge sentenced him to nine months confinement.

That same day, Rio Grande City agents working near Roma, Texas, arrested a Salvadoran national whose record checks confirmed is a Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member with multiple previous deportations.

On Saturday, Rio Grande City agents arrested a Mexican national after he entered the United States illegally near Roma, Texas. During processing, record checks revealed a previous arrest by the Campbell, California, Police Department for lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14. The man received 4 months confinement along with 3 years’ probation.

Hours later, agents working near Brownsville, Texas, arrested a Salvadoran national whose record checks revealed he is an 18th Street gang member.

Yesterday, agents in Harlingen, Texas, arrested a Salvadoran national who admitted to being a member of the MS-13 gang.

The Border Patrol is processing both subjects accordingly.
