EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector agents arrested three gang members and two sex offenders in a single day.
On the morning of December 16, Falfurrias Border Patrol agents working near Falfurrias, arrested a Mexican national illegally present in the United States. The subject was taken into custody and transported for processing. At the station, the subject’s criminal history revealed a 2008 arrest for sexual assault of a child by the Corsicana Police Department in Corsicana, Texas. The individual was subsequently found guilty and sentenced to four years’ probation.
That same morning, McAllen Border Patrol Station (MCS) agents apprehended a group of five migrants near Hidalgo. Record checks on a Salvadoran national revealed he was an active MS-13 gang member previously charged in El Salvador with crimes related to public peace and illegal possession of firearms in 2015.
A short while later, MCS agents apprehended a group of 11 migrants. Record checks on a Salvadoran national revealed he was charged in El Salvador with rape and other sexual crimes in 2009.
That afternoon, MCS agents working in Hidalgo, apprehended 21 migrants after they illegally entered the United States. Among the group was a 45-year-old male from Guatemala who is a confirmed member of the Texas Syndicate gang. The subject has multiple removals from the United States.
In the evening, Kenedy County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Kingsville Border Patrol Station regarding a lost migrant that called 9-1-1 for assistance. Agents conducted a search and located the male, identified as a national of Guatemala, and transported him to the Kingsville station. At the station, EMTs evaluated and provided first aid. Record checks revealed he is an 18th Street gang member, who has been previously removed from the United States several times.
All subjects were processed accordingly.
