EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents arrested a migrant previously convicted of possession of child pornography and a Mara-Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member.
On Oct. 29, Brownsville Border Patrol Station agents apprehended a group of seven migrants in Brownsville. Record checks on Fredy Flores-Galeana, a Mexican national, revealed he was convicted of possession of child pornography and was sentenced to two years confinement. He was later sentenced to 26 months confinement by an immigration judge and subsequently removed from the United States.
On Oct. 30, RGV agents apprehended a group of 11 migrants near Raymondville. Record checks on a Honduran national, revealed he is a MS-13 gang member. In 2008, he was convicted of accommodating sale, possession of a controlled substance, and possession with intent to distribute cocaine in Virginia. He was sentenced to five years incarceration for each of the charges and was subsequently removed from the United States.
Fiscal year 2021, Border Patrol agents around the nation arrested 10,763 criminal migrants, of those, more than 1,900 were arrested in the RGV.
All subjects were processed accordingly.
