EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector arrested an MS-13 gang member and a sex offenders in separate incidents.
On Friday, Weslaco Border Patrol agents arrested a Mexican man later identified as Victor Alfredo ARRIAGA-Chavez after he illegally entered the United States near Hidalgo, Texas. While processing the subject, ARRIAGA-Chavez admitted to being a member of the Paisano gang and displayed several tattoos suggesting his gang affiliation. Additionally, record checks returned documenting him as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha gang, commonly referred to as the MS-13.
Early Tuesday morning, agents working near Roma, Texas, arrested a Mexican national attempting to sneak into the United States. Record checks on the man, later identified as Jesus SAUZ-Martinez, revealed a previous arrest and conviction in Polk County, Florida for lewd and lascivious battery: engaging in sex act with a minor. A judge sentenced SAUZ-Martinez to 7 years, 10 months and 18 days confinement.
