EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector arrested three sex offenders in separate incidents.
On Saturday, agents from the Fort Brown Border Patrol Station working near Brownsville, Texas, arrested a Guatemalan national whose record checks revealed a prior arrest by the Greensboro, North Carolina, Police Department for indecent liberties with a child. The man received 36 months’ probation and a 15 month jail sentence.
Sunday night, McAllen agents working near Penitas, Texas, arrested eight illegal aliens. During processing, record checks for one of the men revealed a prior arrest by the Harris County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14. The presiding judge sentenced the man to 10 years confinement.
On Monday, Rio Grande Valley Sector agents assigned to the Mobile Response Team apprehended 10 illegal aliens on the vast ranchlands of Brooks County. During processing, record checks for one of the Mexican nationals in the group revealed a prior arrest by the Apopka, Florida, Police Department for sexual assault. The presiding judge sentenced the man to 357 days in prison.
