EDINBURG, Texas – This weekend, Fort Brown Border Patrol (FTB) agents arrested a subject with an aggravated sexual assault conviction and Corpus Christi Border Patrol agents arrested an MS-13 gang member.
Early Saturday morning, FTB agents apprehended an adult male Mexican national in Brownsville, Texas. Record checks revealed that the subject, Jesus Campos-Izaguirre, has a conviction for Aggravated Sexual Assault out of Cameron County Sheriff’s Office. The subject was sentenced to five years confinement in 2015.
Shortly thereafter, Victoria County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a vehicle stop on a Ford F150 that resulted in a failed smuggling attempt. Agents from the Corpus Christi Station were dispatched to further interview and determine citizenship of the occupants. A total of nine subjects were illegally present in the United States. All subjects were taken to the Corpus Christi station for processing. At the station, criminal record checks identified Josue Salomon ROGEL-Santana from El Salvador as an MS-13 Gang Member.
Both subjects were processed accordingly.
The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in their communities and report suspicious activity at 800-863-9382.
Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation. The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
