EDINBURG, Texas – Border Patrol Agents arrest a gang member and two sex offenders after they illegally entered the United States.

Yesterday morning, McAllen agents arrested an MS-13 gang member from El Salvador who was among a group of 7 subjects encountered near Penitas, Texas. In addition to his gang affiliation, the previously removed 24 year old had an extensive criminal history to include Assault Causing Physical Injury with a Weapon, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. 

Later that morning in Brownsville, Texas, agents apprehended 7 subjects that entered the United States illegally. Record checks identified Francisco GUERRA-Manchame, a 25 year old Honduran man, as a convicted sex offender in Fairfax County, Virginia. In 2019, GUERRA-Manchame was convicted of Carnal Knowledge of a Child 13-14 years of age, and was given a 6 year suspended sentence.

Early this morning, Rio Grande City agents encountered 8 subjects on Bluebonnet Street in Rio Grande City after they crossed the Rio Grande river. At the station, record checks revealed Juan Ramon MARTINEZ-Villatoro, a 28 year old Salvadoran man, was previously arrested in Nassau County, New York for Rape of a minor, a 2nd Degree Felony. MARTINEZ-Villatoro pleaded guilty and was convicted in 2017. He was sentenced to two years imprisonment.

The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in their communities and report suspicious activity at 800-863-9382.

Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation.  The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
