The Cameron County Judge’s Division of Emergency Management and Fire Marshal Service and the City of Brownsville’s Office of Emergency Management, with the support from the State of Texas, through the Texas Divisionof Emergency Management (TDEM), and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) are pleased toannounce that they will host a federally assisted COVID-19 PCR testing site at the Brownsville Sports Park, located at 1000 Sports Park Blvd. Testing is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. through 6:00p.m. and will continue for the next 21 days from 8:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. or while federal resources last.
To meet the high demands for COVID-19 testing within Cameron County, the State of Texas provided this additional resource, bearing in mind the area’s positivity rate and hospitalizations. The goal of the testing site is to reduce the rate of transmission in the interest of keeping the community safe.
Individuals in need of a COVID-19 test are required to register via the QR code provided below or by visitinghttps://www.doineedacovid19test.com/Brownsville_TX_14605.html. Once you receive an appointment, it is very important that you show or provide voucher/appointment confirmation proof on the day of your test. The testing site is only for those who registered online and received a confirmation. No on-site testing without an appointment will beconducted.

With the rise of COVID cases statewide and the surge of Omicron transmission, we have seen an increase in the demand for testing locally and long lines at doctor’s offices, clinics, and County held testing sites. This new testing site will help alleviate current waittimes for testing countywide and is accessible via online registration. We will inform you should additional federal and state resources be provided to our area, such as monoclonal antibodies. Please take the necessary precautions to remain safe,” stated Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr.
