COVID-19 takes the lives of 21 more people; another 127 test positive for the virus

EDINBURG – Hidalgo County Health officials reported a total of 127 new positive cases of COVID-19 as well as 21 additional deaths.

“Hidalgo County shares heartfelt condolences with the 21 families who have lost a loved one today,” Judge Cortez said. “We have to do our part and stay home unless we absolutely need to leave for an essential activity. The safety and well-being of you and your loved ones is of the utmost importance.”

As a reminder, the County of Hidalgo has a call center for residents to call for more information regarding COVID-19. Phone number is (956) 292-7765, Monday through Friday, 8:00a.m. – 5:00p.m.

The latest case totals bring the count of people in the county who have died from this disease to 1,355. The total number of people who have knowingly contracted the disease in Hidalgo County now stands at 29,209.
