EDINBURG – Hidalgo County Community Service Agency hosted a Veterans Day gathering for clients who are involved in the Operation Bravo Zulu program.
The event took place Friday, Nov. 8 and more than 50 veterans and their spouses enjoyed refreshments and received educational resources that the county offers to veterans, said CSA Executive Director Jaime Longoria.
“Under Operation Bravo Zulu, qualifying veterans are assisted with their utility bills up to $600 per fiscal year,” said Longoria. “In addition, we offer comprehensive case management programs for veterans.”
Precinct 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres welcomed the group and thanked them for their service. The program also included remarks from Dr. Rodolfo Quintana, a psychologist with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and written comments that were delivered on behalf of U.S. Senator John Cornyn.
“I’d like to extend my gratitude to all veterans,” said Torres. “The sacrifices you all have made in defense of our country is something immeasurable and speaks volumes to our community.”
