In a final effort to raise the Census response rate, the City of Edinburg will host the Count on Edinburg Census Parade Saturday, September 26, 2020.
Edinburg achieved a 65% self-response rate goal due to a series of activities coordinated by the City. With only five days away from the deadline, city leaders and officials are doing everything in their power to make Edinburg count.
The parade will begin at the Edinburg City Hall at 10 a.m. Our Edinburg fire and police departments, council members, and other city units will drive around the City, encouraging residents to fill out the Census.
At 11:00 a.m., our Census Ice Cream Mobile Machine will be in the Lowe’s parking lot located at 2802 W. University Drive with city staff to help residents complete the Census. Residents receiving assistance must wear facial coverings at all times. The Census Ice Cream Mobile Machine will then visit three more locations, according to the following schedule:
11 a.m. – Lowe’s – 2802 W University Dr
12 p.m. – Walmart – 1724 W University Dr, Edinburg
1 p.m. – Shoppes At Rio Grande Valley – 443 E Trenton Rd
2 p.m. – HEB – 1212 S Closner Blvd
Residents will have the opportunity to get counted, get free ice cream, and enter a raffle for RGV-FC Toros prize packages. Three winners will be announced on September 30, 2020, on the City of Edinburg’s Facebook page and Spectrum channel 1300.
If you have not been counted, please join us for our Count on Edinburg Census Parade. Attached you will find the parade route map and Census Ice Cream Mobile Machine locations.
