Edinburg, Texas – City Councilman Daniel “Dan” Diaz has officially declared his intention to seek re-election for Edinburg’s Place 1 seat in the upcoming November 2025 election. First elected in 2021, Diaz emphasized the progress made during his tenure and expressed a commitment to furthering the city’s development.
Reflecting on his initial term, Diaz highlighted collaborative efforts with city staff and residents that have positioned Edinburg as a leader on both state and national levels. He described the city, affectionately known as the “Big E,” as a beacon of hope, growth, and positivity.
“Serving my city has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Diaz stated. He also praised Mayor Ramiro Garza for his leadership, noting that Garza’s professionalism has redefined the role and set a high standard for future leaders.
Despite the achievements of the past few years, Diaz acknowledged that more work must be done. He cited the need for experience, continuity, and a deep understanding of the community and city government as his reason for running for re-election.
In his announcement, Diaz also extended his prayers to Mayor Garza, who recently disclosed a prostate cancer diagnosis and his decision not to seek re-election to focus on his health and family. Diaz expressed confidence in Garza’s resilience and wished him a swift recovery.
As the November 2025 election approaches, Diaz seeks the support of Edinburg residents to continue promoting growth, positivity, and inclusivity throughout the community.
