Laredo, Texas – On Monday, July 26, 2021, the City of Laredo Mayor, Pete Saenz, and members of Council recognized several Laredoans for their recent accomplishments. The recognitions serve as a way to remind the citizens that the City of Laredo and its elected officials are extremely proud of their achievements and encourage them to continue working hard, as they hold the name of Laredo high.
- Recognition presented to the Laredo American Little League Society All-Star teams in the Majors and Juniors divisions. They recently won the title of District 34 champions in their respective divisions in a city-wide competition. These teams are now preparing for the upcoming sectionals in Brownsville, Texas. The City of Laredo wants to wish them the best of luck.
- As a recurrent internal program, the City of Laredo’s Human Resources Department continues to motivate all City staff for them to nominate a fellow staff member as Employee of the Quarter. In this occasion, three outstanding City of Laredo employees were recognized as Employees of the Quarter for the 2nd Quarter of 2021. Jose Renteria, Groundskeeper for Municipal Housing – Community Development Department, and Norma Gonzalez, Personnel Assistant, and Officer Luis Raines from the Laredo Police Department, were honored by their peers for their impressive and distinguished performance at their respective places of work. The City of Laredo Council commends them for their remarkable contributions and for their service to the community.
- With respect, the City of Laredo Mayor and Council presented a dignified recognition to the family of Arturo B. Campos, NASA Electrical Engineer. Mr. Campos’ accomplishments during his tenure in NASA granted him great credit and gratitude for his assistance and contributions in bringing back the Apollo 13 mission safely. After receiving 300,000 votes in the “Name the Artemis Moonikin Challenge”, NASA named a space-bound mannequin after Arturo Campos, which will be heading to the moon during the Artemis I mission. The City of Laredo is immensely proud of Laredoan Campos and his legacy continues to live in town. Through resolution, the Mayor and Laredo City Council will honor the day of the Artemis I mission as “Commander Moonikin Campos Day”, which will take place in November 2021.
El Municipio de Laredo Otorga Varios Reconocimientos a Ciudadanos Locales
Laredo, Texas – El lunes, 26 de julio del 2021, el Alcalde de la Ciudad de Laredo, Pete Saenz, y los miembros del Cabildo reconocieron a varios Laredenses por sus logros recientes. Los reconocimientos sirven como una manera de recordar a los ciudadanos que la Ciudad de Laredo y sus funcionarios electos están extremadamente orgullosos de sus logros y los alientan a seguir trabajando duro, ya que mantienen en alto el nombre de Laredo.
• Reconocimiento presentado a los equipos All-Star de Laredo American Little League Society en las divisiones Majors y Juniors. Recientemente, ganaron el título de campeones del Distrito 34 en sus respectivas divisiones en una competencia en toda la ciudad. Estos equipos ahora se están preparando para las próximas seccionales en Brownsville, Texas. La Ciudad de Laredo quiere desearles la mejor de las suertes.
• Como programa interno recurrente, el Departamento de Recursos Humanos de la Ciudad de Laredo continúa motivando a todo el personal de la Ciudad para que nominen a un miembro del personal como Empleado del Trimestre. En esta ocasión, tres empleados destacados de la Ciudad de Laredo fueron reconocidos como Empleados del Trimestre para el segundo trimestre de 2021. José Rentería, Jardinero del Departamento de Desarrollo Comunitario de Vivienda Municipal, Norma González, Asistente de Personal y el Oficial Luis Raines del Departamento de Policía de Laredo, fueron homenajeados por sus compañeros por su impresionante y distinguida actuación en sus respectivos lugares de trabajo. El Cabildo de la Ciudad de Laredo los felicita por sus notables contribuciones y por su servicio a la comunidad.
• Con respeto, el Alcalde y Concejo Municipal de Laredo presentaron un digno reconocimiento a la familia de Arturo B. Campos, Ingeniero Eléctrico de la NASA. Los logros del Sr. Campos durante su desempeño en la NASA le otorgaron un gran crédito y gratitud por su ayuda y contribuciones para traer de regreso la Misión Apolo 13 de manera segura. Después de recibir 300,000 votos en la competencia de “Nombrar el Artemis Moonikin”, la NASA nombró a un maniquí con destino al espacio en honor a Arturo Campos, que se dirigirá a la luna durante la misión Artemis I. La Ciudad de Laredo está inmensamente orgullosa del ciudadano Laredense Campos y su legado continúa viviendo en la ciudad. Mediante resolución, el Alcalde y el Cabildo de Laredo honrarán el día de la misión Artemis I como “Día del Comandante Moonikin Campos”, que tomara lugar en noviembre del 2021.
