WASHINGTON – The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) will receive a $2,077,613 federal grant for its Hospital Preparedness Program, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) announced today.
The Hospital Preparedness Program works with Texas’ 22 trauma service areas (TSAs) to develop and implement health care coalitions with the aim of better-supporting state and local efforts in emergency preparedness and to integrate the work of the public health and first responder communities. The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Public Response.
“As more and more people are being tested and diagnosed with COVID-19, our hospitals and health care providers need additional support so they can continue to serve patients,” said Sen. Cornyn. “I’m thankful to the Trump Administration for working to get our health care providers the resources and equipment they need to continue fighting this virus on the front lines.”
