WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) released the following statement after Chairman Grassley announced that the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court beginning September 4th:
“By now it’s clear that Judge Kavanaugh will be a fair arbiter of the law who will call balls and strikes, not impose his personal beliefs or policy preferences on the American people.”
“Both parties agree Judge Kavanaugh is exceptionally well-qualified, and we’ve come to know him as a caring father, devoted friend, and charitable member of his community.”
“Since before he was even nominated, Democrats have launched one desperate attack on him after another. They’ve thrown everything at the wall, and nothing has stuck.”
“The transparent stall tactics and now thinly-veiled attacks on Judge Kavanaugh’s character only underscore the strength of the choice President Trump has made.”
“I look forward to what will be a thorough and open vetting process by the Committee between now and September, followed by a vote to confirm him before October 1.”
